WOOD TYPES AND COLORS AND STYLES

When choosing a wood for your cabinets, Remember that stains will render the actual color and bring out the natural beauty of the wood, and you can darken light wood but, it’s difficult to make dark wood lighter

Light Color Woods

For creating a more contemporary look. Ideal for making, a small kitchen seem larger, and a dark kitchen brighter.Light woods are predominately yellow in color- Ranging from pale yellow to pale tan.Choices include but not limited to:  Maple, Oat, Ash, Poplar, Birch, and Pine.

Medium Color Woods

Work well both contemporary and traditional styles, and the mid colors add warmth to a room without overpowering it.Medium color woods have a pinkish cast with a light brown or tan color to them Choices include but not limited to:  Beech and Cherry

Hint: you can also stain maple a little darker than it’s natural color

Dark Color Woods

Work especially well with traditional and mission styles. They can be used to create a dramatic effect, or to make a large room seem smaller Choices include but not limited to: Butternut, Mahogany, Rosewood, Teak, and Walnut These woods range from medium brown to almost black in appearance.
